South Tyrol – for all seasons

South Tyrol – for all seasons

Magical diversity - South Tyrol has so much to offer

Spring

Birds are singing from morning to night, the sun is getting warmer and the first buds are starting to appear. When the orchards of the Adige Valley begin to bloom, it’s a truly magnificent natural sight not to be missed: a fragrant sea of flowers as far as the eye can see with a backdrop of snow-capped mountains. Take a stroll through the pretty orchards or along the waterway paths. Cycle through the picturesque Adige Valley on the established network of bike paths and enjoy the fresh air.

Summer

South Tyrol offers countless opportunities for hikers wanting to discover the fascinating South Tyrolean mountains. Whether you want to climb a 3,000m peak or hike comfortably over the blossoming alpine meadows stopping off in a rustic hut – there is something for everyone in South Tyrol. Our central location means you can easily reach both the picturesque Texel Mountain Group near Meran and the world-famous Dolomites; a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Bikers will get their money’s worth. Thanks to its direct connection to the South Tyrolean cycling network, Nals is perfect for cyclists. Cable cars bring mountain bikers to lofty heights where breathtaking scenery can be enjoyed to the fullest with a variety of routes for all levels.
And last but not least: cool off on hot summer days in our refreshing salt water pool

Autumn

Autumn is the long awaited harvest time.  The orchards and vineyards are heavy with their ripe fruits, the leaves on the trees are starting to change colour and the highest peaks are white with the first snow, all against a deep blue sky: a stunning natural sight. In late autumn, an old South Tyrolean custom begins: the “Törggelen”, when many farmhouse parlours and cellars are opened to the public.  The new wine is tasted, typical farmers’ meals are served and the tradition is finished off with roasted chestnuts.

Winter

Winter is a great time of year to enjoy the fresh air and the snowy panorama, whether that be during a leisurely hike or from the top of a ski slope. Our central location means you are in easy reach of several ski resorts in the area. Ice skating on an idyllic mountain lake or sledging down the mountain on an exhilarating toboggan run: South Tyrol has plenty to offer for winter holiday makers.
In addition, the Christmas markets in the cities of Merano, Bolzano, Bressanone, Vipiteno and Brunico have developed into a wonderful cultural attraction not to be missed. Smaller and more traditional Christmas markets can be found in the Sarntal Valley or in the towns of Ritten and Glurns.
Ski resorts in the area:

  • Ski Center Latemar, Obereggen
  • Dolomiti Superski: featuring the Sellaronda ski carousel
  • Reinswald ski resort, Sarntal Valley
